Review: Brisbane, Tivoli
Written by: Travers Southwell
Belarusian post-punk trio Molchat Doma brought their 2025 world tour to a close on Sunday night at Brisbane’s Tivoli.
Formed in Minsk in 2017, Molchat Doma rose from Eastern Europe’s underground scene with a sound that feels both nostalgic and eerily modern. The band is known for blending cold-wave, post-punk, and synth-driven melancholy into something uniquely their own. Their music which is often described as bleak, romantic, and hypnotic, has built a global following over the past few years.
From the moment the band took the stage, the room shifted. The Tivoli filled with a strange and beautiful energy, dark lights, lasers and strobes cut through the venue as the synths echoed from wall to wall.
The lead singer danced beneath the flickering lights, almost possessed by the rhythm, while the band effortlessly drifted between tracks from across their catalogue.
What stood out most was how deeply the crowd connected with it all. Fans danced, jumped, and swayed in unison, completely surrendered to the mood of the night. A sold-out room full of people who had waited a long time for this exact moment.
It wasn’t just a concert, it was an experience. A perfect closing chapter to a long world tour, and a fitting final show for Molchat Doma in 2025. Dark, beautiful, immersive and unforgettable.
